Trip to the funfare

August 9th, 2010

Every time we drive to Queensbaymall, we’ll pass by the fun fare and Rachel would ask to go there. We’ve promised to take her on a ferris wheel ride this weekend.  God was gracious, coz yesterday the heavens opened up and poured cats and dogs on Penang island. It also rained heavily early this morning but it had stopped by late morning. Evening came and it wasn’t raining. Thank you Lord. So we took the kids to the fun fare! I’ll let the pics do the rest of the talking …

Sam’s too small to get on any of the rides… so kong kong and grandma entertained him while Rachel went on some of the rides.
.
.
Looks kinda like the Butterflyman’s funfare from the TV series Heroes.
.
.
Q-ing up to get on the big wheel…
.
.
Goin’ up !
.
.
One of the rides we can see from above…. I’m not taking that ride for sure ….guaranteed to get a massive headache and vomit
.
.
This is the other ride which swings people 360 degrees upside down. Another guaranteed to vomit ride…. anybody need an MC? Get on this ride, only RM4  … >.<
.
.
Next is the Highway 3000 ride. Rachel riding on the front jeep. She was gungho enough to get on it all by herself.
.
.
.
.
The ride is pretty fast and she’s lovin’ it.
.
.
One last ride before heading home, choo-choo train merry-go-round ride
.
.
Byebye papa!
.
.
It’s time to head home…

tutu

August 6th, 2010

lately, Rachel’s been very interested in Playhouse Disney’s latest show, Angelina Ballerina. It’s a show about a mouse who loves to dance. Rachel will imitate the twirling and dancing moves…..  A dear friend of ours, Priscilla, whose cute princess Joy-Anne also loves the show, decided to try her hands at making a tutu. Her first attempt was successful. (you can check out her website here).  So I asked whether she could make one for Rachel too and she agreed!  After some issues with the courier company, the package finally arrived! :)

Rachel was so excited when she saw the tutu and the complimentary hair clips that came with it…. she couldnt wait to wear it!  the moment she wore the tutu, she started twirling and dancing and jumping around! hahaha….

Priscilla, as promised, here are the pics :

see the huge smile on her face? she was so excited!

August 2nd, 2010

was at a bookstore over the weekend and i decided to purchase the latest issue of the Playhouse Disney magazine for rachel. Actually i didnt know Playhouse Disney even had a magazine until recently when I saw the advertisement on tv. It looked pretty interesting with loads of activities so I decided to purchase it.

today, i took out the magazine. rachel was delighted. we sat down at the table to explore the magazine. First activity was to draw a picture by joining the dotted lines. She was so excited… she was busy coloring the picture that she drew when suddenly she stopped, looked at me in the eye and said this :

rachel : “wow, mama, this is fun. i love it.. thank you for buying this for me….” and then she leaned over to give me a kiss….”i love you mama…”

aww…my heart melted…..

July birthday celebrations..

July 30th, 2010

phew! July flew by in a blink of an eye… so many things to update but so little time… got some catching up to do ..

highlights of July – Darling & Win’s birthday, CG Retreat in Bukit Merah (will blog abt this in another post)…

Darling’s birthday fell on a Saturday (17th) this year. What did we do on that day? morning was spent viewing some show houses followed by a simple lunch at a hawker centre near Sunshine Square (darling’s request). after that it was back home for the kids (and adults) to nap…after a refreshing nap, we headed down to Gurney Plaza. Met up with parents, win + shane (vian was away in Kuching so she couldnt join us) for a simple birthday celebration dinner at Chicago Ribs House. the ribs there were superb! tender and yummylicious!

rachel made papa a birthday card.. (with grandma's help of course)

papa, mama & rachel..

papa & samuel..

Samuel the cheeky boy..

birthday girl, Jee Ee & Jee Teow..

Jee Ee & Kong Kong..

after dinner, we went window shopping… needed to do some walking to burn off those calories!  after walking, we decided to head to Swensens for dessert! :)

Both birthday boy & girl each ordered their favourite ice-cream from swensens – Win had Chocolate Crunch, Darling had Chewy Sticky Chocolate…..and we ordered the chocolate fondue to share. Rachel definitely enjoyed indulging in the ice cream & the chocolate… she got her whole mouth and hands coated with chocolate!

trying to get a good group shot.. but as usual it's difficult to get everyone to look at the camera (the kids esp)

birthday boy and birthday girl

darling & i..

another attempt in getting a group shot…

birthday presents?  darling got himself a casio thermometer watch ( he said he pay or i pay is the same…hehe…) and we got some facial products for Win. all in all it was a simple birthday celebrated with loved ones… blessed birthday, darling & dearest Win… May our Lord continue to bless you always!

diaperless at night..

July 30th, 2010

Tuesday night (27/7) marks the 1st night rachel went diaperless at night. Ever since she’s potty-trained, she is diaperless the whole day (yes, including nap time in the afternoon) except for bedtime at night. Never dared to let her go diaperless at night coz every morning when she wakes up, her diaper will be full.

Then a couple of months ago, we noticed that she has started to learn to control her bladder better. Her diapers will be completely dry every morning!  so 2 nights ago, her diaper supply finished, so we told her she has to go without diapers at night already. (I’ve been drilling into her head that she’s a big girl already, no need to wear diapers at night, blah blah blah….) So I expected some protests from her, but surprisingly she said ‘ok’.  :)  so it has been 3 nights….. so far so good….. :)

kids say the cutest things!

July 8th, 2010

As much as possible I want to be around when my kids wake up every morning. I just love to snuggle with them in bed and have my face smothered with morning kisses!  mmmm….. today was one of the very few days in which I had to leave for work before Rachel woke up. Both Rachel & Sam are normally awake by 7.30am. But this morning, when I left the house at 8am, she was still sleeping….sigh. Every morning when Rachel wakes up, she will look for me. If i’m not there in bed beside her, she will cry “i want mama…..mama…mama….”

so this morning around 11 something i called home..and spoke to Rachel over the phone. Here’s how the conversion went:

Mama : Hi rachel…

Rachel : hi mama….

Mama : did you cry when you wake up this morning?

Rachel : yeah….

Mama : why did you cry?

Rachel : because i want mama…..

Mama : but mama had to go to work….rachel was still sleeping when mama left for work…

Rachel : but i want mama…. i forgot to give mama & papa “good morning” kiss…… *sounding very sad…*

Mama : it’s ok, darling. when i get home this evening, you can give me many kisses ok?

Rachel : yeah… ok! *sounding happy again*

:D

and when i got home from work, she gave me lots of kisses!  ahhh! what a perfect way to end the day :)

At other times, she can be really cheeky.  In the mornings before I leave for work, I’ll give both rachel & sam a hug, a kiss and tell them that i love them. Rachel will usually reciprocate by giving me a hug, a kiss and an “i love you, too”.  but lately she has been very cheeky….when i hug and kiss her, she will purposely choose not to do the same… and when i ask her ‘dont u want to kiss me”, she’ll give me a VERY cheeky look, grin and say “nope, i’m too busy!”    i dont know whether to laugh or to feel upset!! hahahha…….

the joys of motherhood…. :D

Trip to Ipoh pics

June 24th, 2010

We went to Ipoh together with TMC’s family outing … sort of…. coz we drove ourselves there instead of following the bus. Plus we stayed over night in the YMCA while the rest didn’t.

Our trusty new steed, ok it’s not a steed it’s a 7 seater … 7 Adults and 2 kids moved around Ipoh comfortably in one car … I mean van.

Side track for the photo junkies, this was taken on 31mm, f16, 1/100,  iso200. My little attempt to get a sunburst and a sunflare (some where near the bumper on the right) with the early morning sun.

Rachel all strapped in with sunnies on for the road trip.

Sam's also snuggly strapped in his baby seat. This is his snooze zone.

Armed with nothing but a Garmin 255W to get us there and around Ipoh.

We took a toilet stop at Sg Perak.

Sam sharing a light moment with 2tiow

Sam's getting good at copy catting faces. Bleks!

Poutz !

Doing the squirmy wormy in 3ee's arms.

Finally arrived at the famous Lee How Fook restaurant

Camel ride ,… ok papa's so tall, it's giraffe ride.

Lunch with 3 bus loads of TMC folks!

Sorry we were all too bz eating, no time to shoot pics of the food.

Having coffee at the original white coffee shop

and just across the road is the original Old Town shop, looks much less glamourous than all their outlets eh?

Although we missed the rest of the itenerary with the others to the spritzer factory, pomelo farm and salted chicken shopping, due to rain and kids taking their afternoon nap. The highlight of the trip is attending Canning Gardens Methodist Church Sat Evening service and of course a good time of catching up with Ps Jeya and Grace at their home.

Ok that’s all for now. Time to call it a night, more pics for the rest of the trip to come. Stay tuned for part 2!

1 year old – Updates

June 19th, 2010

Backdated post.  Milestones of prince at 1 year old….

♦  teeth -  still remain at 8

♦  walking - our darling prince started walking 2 days before his 1st bday! :)   he has been practicing very hard, but so far only manages to take 1-2 steps on his own before falling down. but 2 days before his 1st bday, he could manage at least 5 steps or more on his own! :) so proud of him…

♦  speech - words that he can say up-to-date : clock, bible, mum mum, elmo, cold, water, flower, apple, cross, tiger, ah ma, mama, ah pa (he likes to add “ah” in front of most words), papa, ah cheh, cheh cheh, school, walk, ball, give, no, car, bird, thank you, throw, beat, kick, dog, cat, ah mote (referring to remote as in remote control), nen nen, milk, amen, good, nose, toes, ‘ney’ (referring to Barney), ‘ouse’ (referring to Mickey Mouse)

When i ’scold’ him, he’ll imitate me and pout his mouth.

When my mom ’scolds’ him, he’ll pout his mouth and look away

He’s able to suck from straw…. i remember rachel only learnt how to drink water using a straw when she was 1 plus…

When u ask him to clap hands, he’ll clap his hands with a big grin on his face. When you say “clever boy”, he’ll immediately clap his hands and give you a cheeky smile…

When he’s eating something and you ask him, “Samuel, is this good?” and he’ll show you the “good sign” using his thumb & Mr Pointer (finger) and say “good”!

When you ask him “samuel, where’s your nose?”  he’ll point to his nose (although most of the time his finger ends up inside his nose! hahahaha)

Inside the playpen, he loves to pick up the balls and throw them out of the playpen! he’ll say “throw”!

he has learnt how to climb up his cot (his cheh cheh never learnt to do that…. boys really samseng la….)

♦   food intake – we’ve stopped blending his porridge….  we’ve introduced fish to him. oats, fruits, etc..

♦  sleeping pattern – lately he’s been sleeping through the night but there are still nights whereby he will wake up at least once. sometimes it’s to drink milk, sometimes he just wants to be carried!

i’m curious to find out his current height and weight. tomorrow i’m bringing him for his 1-year jab, so i’ll be able to know then.
